2021 GHNA 11th ANNUL “HOLIDAY LIGHTS” FOOD DRIVE CONTEST

DECEMBER 17, 18, 19, & 20th (Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday)

Many of our neighbors put up beautiful lighting displays in their yard for the Holiday Season for all of us to enjoy! So join your neighbors in the spirit of the season to help restock the Richardson Network of Community Ministries. If you plan to decorate your house/yard this year and wish to participate, please text or call 214-663-2292 to register as a collection spot. A gift wrapped collection box and a yard sign will be brought to your home to be used as a “voting box” to collect non-perishable canned & boxed food items. One food item = one vote and “stuffing” the voting box is allowed! 🙂 All “voting boxes” & signs will be picked up on Tuesday, December 21st

Last year nearly 1,334 lbs. of food was collected and we would LOVE to collect more this year! Due to the coronavirus pandemic this year, the need is much greater than ever before. All residents are welcome to participate and addresses will be listed on this website under ANNOUNCEMENTS heading next weekend. The participant in the “Holiday Lights” contest who collects the most food items will receive a $25.00 gift credit from Calloway’s Nursery and a 30% discount in your birthday month! 🙂 A Win-Win situation! Last year, we had 2 winners with the same number of food items collected!!! Winner(s) will be posted under Announcements, Nextdoor & FaceBook on this EVENTS page under the photos below by December 18th.

So be sure to tell your neighbors, friends, co-workers and family about this fun and helpful cause for the families in need during this holiday season. As they drive around the neighborhood to enjoy the lighting displays, they can “VOTE” many, many times 🙂 Let’s brighten the holidays with your generosity for people in need by participating or donating food items.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT – TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2020

This year’s registration for NNO 2020 is now open! Go to <Richardsonpolice.net> to register ASAP. Due to the Covid19 virus situation, they are recommending that each household on the street to be in their own front yard relaxing, turn on porch lights, fly flags, post signs all to support solidarity against crime and showing support of our RPD.

During the evening between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., a police officer will drive by slowly and may even stop to take pictures, so be sure to SMILE! The RPD has already had their “CAN DO” Food Drive for the Network, but if you missed that opportunity, you can deliver to the network in person.
